Causes of Brain Injury

Traumatic brain injury is caused when some object with tremendous force comes in contact with the head, or the head, moving with tremendous force, comes in contact with another object.  Because of the safety measures of the human skull and brain area, it takes a tremendous amount of force to cause injury to the brain.  As a result, brain injuries can be extremely debilitating.  Some common causes of TBI:

  • Car accident
  • Motorcycle accident
  • Bicycle accident
  • Sporting event accident
  • Falls

Traumatic brain injury cannot be inherited, nor can one be born with it.  There must be an action of tremendous force to the head to cause TBI.
